Peaches has been on the road for about 6 weeks now, having played shows throughout America, Australia and South East Asia. But today she will leave Singapore to begin the long journey back to Europe and back to base in Berlin…
We were already feeling nostalgic about last summer’s awesome European tour, so we dug out a selection of great pix from some of those shows. This is just the first batch mind you, so there will be more to come!
After four packed-out performances, Peaches brought her extraordinary ‘Peaches Does Herself’ musical to a climactic end on the 31st October, smack back on time for a crazed Halloween after-party at the White Trash Club!!
We had visitors from all over Europe coming to see the show, and we’ve had countless mails from fans lamenting the fact that they couldn’t be in Berlin to see it. Luckily, for those who missed it, we’ve got bucket-loads of pics for you to feast yer eyes on!
For a start, check out these fantastic shots taken by Berlin based photographers Lynn Lauterbach and Steffi Loos.
Its going to be a very, Very, VERY special night tonight in Berlin, as the much anticipated Ten Year Anniversary Epic Electro-Rock Opera PEACHES DOES HERSELF premieres at the Hebbel Theater!!!
Yesterday, the press were invited for a private performance. Check out these reviews and preview pics!!
Only a few more days to go until the Premiere of the epic Peaches Does Herself musical at the Hebbel Theater in Berlin!!!
The crew moved into the theater late last week to start setting the stage and squeeze in a few last runs of the show before Thursday’s performance. There’s activity in every little corner of the building!!
Here’s your second little peek at the production!!
Its been a week of full-on rehearsing for Peaches & her theatre crew in Berlin, as they prepare for NEXT WEEK’S PREMIERE of Peaches Does Herself at the Hebbel Theatre!
The team are gathered in the studio as we speak; the choreographers, dancers, designers, directors, technicians, and of course the band – and they’re gonna be hard at work for another week of scheduled rehearsals!
Here’s a little intro we shot during the first days of rehearsing. We’ve got more coming up soon!
On September 1st Peaches was invited to DJ at the opening of the 11th Edition of the ‘Circuito Off Venice International Short Film Festival’ in Venice, Italy. There she caught up with her crazies for a quick tour of the city before hitting Lido’s Blue Moon Beach party, organized by Berlin’s White Trash Club.
You might recognize some of the wild bunch from previous posts here on the blog, like the fabulous Danni Daniels, who you might have seen recently dancing in a Peaches show!
Mignon, who’s set to release her new album ‘Kiss of Death‘, was also attendance! She recently performed as the fake Peaches in the Peaches Wheelchair Show this past summer. Check out her website.
Mad Kate is a performance artist/singer who is a member of the circus collective art-rock band Bonaparte and the cabaret punk act Kamikaze Queens. See link for more info!
And last but not least, Drag Queen DJ Anita Drink joined the gang for some antics before her set later on in the night. Click here for more Anita Drink!
That’s right folks, its the 10 Year Anniversary of Peaches debut album “The Teaches of Peaches”!! and to celebrate Peaches has decided to create an entire OPERA centered around her four albums Teaches of Peaches, Fatherfucker, Impeach My Bush and I Feel Cream.
In recent years the Jukebox musical has become very popular; where the musical works of an artist are put to a fictional subject. Peaches calls this extravaganza the ‘Anti Jukebox musical’. She has created an absurd themed Opera (there will be no dialogue besides the songs themselves) that will represent her work and her concerns about gender, beauty and age.
Expect big dance numbers, odes to favorite past musicals and fantastic surprise guests.
Peaches: “I want it to be a fantastical musical that broadway would never be able to present.”
Stay tuned on the blog for some behind-the-scenes goodies from the making of Peaches Does Herself!
This week Peaches and Sweet Machine are holed up in an industrial hanger out in west Berlin, having regrouped with all the gear they’ll need for this weekend’s LIVE LASER SHOW at the BERLIN FESTIVAL!!
Technically speaking, a midi-Laser Show is no mean feat! So the gang are hard at work right now; programming, choreographing and rehearsing intensely for the show.
Here’s what the Berlin Festival site has to say about it:
“Now she discovered laser for herself, and from now on stage performances will never be the same again. Instruments and tool are totally yesterday’s news. By disrupting various laser beams, Peaches creates electronic soundscapes, and adds even a little coreography to her performance that should definitely not be missed. No wonder, she’s a special guest on BNR stage at Berlin Festival this year in order to celebrate “1o Years of Teaches of Peaches.”
Dont miss the Laser show on the BNR stage at 00:30 on 11th September.
Here’s a little compilation of Laser shots we put together in anticipation of Saturday’s big show. Enjoy!
Peaches and crew roll through the wonderful town of Lausanne, Switzerland on their way to the ‘For Noise Festival’, anticipating the very final wheelchair-bound set of the tour!!
A miraculous thing happened in Lausanne – it must have had something to do with the swelling up of powerful psychic energies in that little Swiss valley, or the sheer potency of humanity gathered before that little stage – whatever the reason, Peaches cast off those weighty bandages and walked again; healed!!!
Witnesses described the scene – telling of a shadow that passed across the stage and lifted the bandages from the leg.
Yet not long after the recovery a cruel twist of fate befell The Fake Peaches: leaping from the drum riser (sound familiar?) and not quite getting her footing right, she ended the show in the chair, after suffering serious damage to the ligaments in her right leg.
Doctors say it’ll take another six weeks before she can walk again.
Anyhow, enough preamble, lets see The Final Wheelchair Show!!!
A handful of DJ gigs coming up across Europe next week, starting on Wednesday 1st in Venice, where Peaches will play the opening party of the Venice International Short Film Festival!
Following that: 2nd September @ Paradiso, Amsterdam, 3rd @ Bahnhof Ehrenfeld, Cologne, 4th @ La Machine de Moulin Rouge, Paris and finally on 23rd @ Razzmattaz in Barcelona.
We got creative with some youtube clips we found and erm… borrowed, of Peaches DJ’ing in various places around the globe. Check it out!
Peaches is back on the road today! Heading off to Hungary, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria for a quick tour of the European summer festivals.
Pretty soon she be rolling onstage in Budapest for another special performance in the chair, with the fabulous danni-the- tranny-nurse behind the wheels for some assistance!
Last week Peaches was at the Sonnemondsterne Festival in Saalburg, Germany and PeachesTV was on site to capture some of the madness on film!
So, earlier in the week Peaches visited the doc to see what’s goin’ on with the ankle and to get the limited-edition Grace Jones Signature Cast removed from the leg… and, well, if you’ve had a peek at Peaches’ Facebook profile recently, you may already know the story…
“The wheelchair show continues all summer long!!!!!”
Yep, doc says its gonna take SIX WEEKS to heal! That means there’s gonna be a few repeat performances of what we thought was the ONE & ONLY wheelchair show!!
Check out the following dates to see if you can catch up with The Wheelchair Show!
Peaches rolls into Victoria Park with her circus of freaky friends in tow, ready to rock the London Loveboxers with her historical ‘Wheelchair Show’; a raucous, hilarious, once-in-a-lifetime performance you definitely didn’t want to miss!
Since the show we’ve been flooded with mails from fans all over the globe asking when the footage is going to appear– and we’re glad to say it’s finally here!
Before we let you backstage to see the madness in the making, here’s a selection of what the press had to say about ‘The Wheelchair Show’–
“If Jones delivered in style, then electroclash dominatrix Peaches raised the bar earlier in the day with a superbly outrageous set. Appearing on stage with her leg in a cast, the singer was pushed around in a wheelchair by a naked Amazonian pre-op transsexual. “This is not a joke,” she assured the audience. “I couldn’t not come to Lovebox!” She didn’t disappoint as ‘Talk to Me,’ ‘Billionaire’ and ‘F— the Pain Away’ caused the sizeable crowd to dance despite the beating sun.”
“The defining moment of this year’s Lovebox – possibly, even, of any festival this year – comes about 10 minutes into Peaches’ Sunday afternoon set. It’s already got off to a colourful start. We’re greeted by the sight of the electro provocateur arriving on stage wearing a head-to-toe coat that appears to be made of raggedy fibres. This is soon dispensed with, and she cavorts in what resembles an S&M bra and panties kit, wearing some kind of gimp mask. So far, so odd. Then it gets really weird. This, it transpires, is not Peaches….
The real Peaches is wheeled on stage in a pink wheelchair with a throne attachment, leg in a plaster cast, and spends the rest of her set being pushed round the stage by a naked pre-operative transsexual, whose name might be Danny. Well, it’s certainly a talking point.”
For those of you who follow Peaches on Twitter or Facebook, you’ll know that last weekend, whilst performing at the Marés Vivas Festival 2010 in Portugal, Peaches screwed up her ankle big time at the beginning of her set… it was the giant leap from the drum riser in the mammoth ghillie suit that did it!!
Of course, in true Peaches style, she finished off the set (including crowd walking!!) without a whimper – with nothing but adrenaline to keep her goin!!
And the end result?
An ankle the size of a melon and a big bad-ass plaster cast around her right leg!
With the Lovebox Weekender in London just two days later, what was she going to do? There’s no way she could cancel!
Ingeniously, Peach got to work on putting together an exclusive set for the London Festival goers– a hilarious performance that will forever be known as ‘The Wheelchair Show’!!
We’ve got an exclusive Peaches Wheelchair Mini-doc coming up very soon, full of hilarious behind-the-scenes footage from the festival. But here’s a sneak preview to keep ya keen!
Were any of you lucky enough to witness ‘The Wheelchair Show’ first hand? If so, let us know and leave a comment!
On May 8th 2010 the 5th Annual Donau Festival landed in the Lower Austrian town of Krems an der Donau, fronted by PEACHES who was invited this year to curate the special event. Needless to say, the Festival was a huge success!
Peaches, for her the second time as festival curator, brought along her sensational & sexed-up musical circus, with guests hand-picked from her catalog of favourite acts and collaborators.
This week we’ll be focusing in on some of these guests, as well as showing off some awesome footage of Peaches doin’ her thing on stage!
But, to start, lets introduce the New York cult-Icon and comic stripper Sandy “The Naked Cowgirl” Kane! We caught up with her at the festival to hear what she had to say about being personally invited by Peaches!
Stay Tuned for more stories & snaps from the Festival!
Many thanks to FM4 Radio for providing the footage.
Check out these highlights from Peaches’ wild show in Moscow’s Arma 17 Club on 14th May 2010! Sadly the camera missed Peaches writhing all over the spectacular LAMBORGHINI that joined her on stage but we’ll be posting some photos from the gig here in the coming weeks.
Peaches was thrilled to do a 2 week solo tour of Asia last month, where she hit up cities like Shanghai, Taipei, Denpansar, Macau, Beijing, and Singapore.
Robin our amazing video editor looked through YouTube at Peaches request, and made a video compilation of all the fan footage that he found from Peaches Asian tour.
